A horrific accident took place on a New York highway.
Six buses were traveling from New York to Pennsylvania carrying more than 300 kids to a band camp.
Sadly, one of the buses lost control, then went down a ravine, killing two people aboard the bus.
Horrific Tragedy
Dozens of children were injured during the accident, with five of them being rushed to a local hospital.
Two adults who were on the bus were killed.
The band director as well as a retired teacher was serving as a chaperone.
The group was from Farmingdale High School.
Governor Kathy Hochul stated, “Today was a day of terror.
“No one could’ve foreseen what these 40 students and four adults would’ve experienced, but certainly there are families grieving today.”
Howitt Middle School teacher Donna Baltch added, “It’s terrifying.
“These kids go on a trip to have fun, this is something that they look forward to all year, and these poor teachers, these chaperones, I’m hearing mixed things, we don’t know if they’re okay. Right now, we are just praying and hoping that they’re okay.”
If there is any solace to be taken at all, it is that no children died in the accident.
I still cannot imagine the horror they will be living with for the rest of their life, however.
