New Mexico’s Democrat governor Michelle Lujan Grisham thought she’d get a little more support from her fellow liberals after suspending Second Amendment rights in Albuquerque. She declared gun violence an emergency after the shooting deaths of three children. But those who normally support gun grabs aren’t biting. Grisham appeared on CNN to discuss her order and was stunned by the response.
CNN host Poppy Harlow
Was point blank and started asking Grisham where she thought she had the right. The governor wasn’t expecting this.
Harlow started with, “We also have, Governor, the Constitution … and you’re an attorney. Do you think you’re on solid constitutional ground?” Grisham responded, “I have the right.” “But where is the right?” Grisham then admitted she broke the law. “We’ll see what all of these court actions do.”

Harlow then read the New Mexico Constitution live on air where it pertained to the governor’s action.
“No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes, but nothing herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed weapons. No municipality of county shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms.”
But the governor wasn’t listening, she just repeated what she was supposed to say. But Harlow interrupted her to talk about Supreme Court rulings.
CNN noted others aren’t complying
Sheriff John Allen of Bernalillo County won’t be complying. It’s unconstitutional. He can’t. State Reps. Stefani Lord and John Block thought impeachment proceedings for Grisham should be started.
Both of them wrote, “This emergency order violates the Governor’s oath to protect and defend the rights of New Mexicans and is illegal in nature. The legislature has a duty to intervene when the government is overstepping its boundaries, and Governor Grisham’s order and comments disqualify her from continuing her tenure as Governor.” Rep. Lord added,
“I’m calling on counsel to begin the impeachment process against Governor Grisham. This is an abhorrent attempt at imposing a radical, progressive agenda on an unwilling populous. Rather than addressing crime at its core, Governor Grisham is restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners.”
