As the Biden administration continues to grapple with the ongoing humanitarian and security crisis at the US-Mexico border, Republicans have started taking action.
Fox News recently obtained photos of three individuals believed to be cartel gunmen crossing into Texas from Mexico, equipped with firearms and body armor.
NEW: Per law enforcement source, a group of suspected cartel gunmen armed with rifles & body armor were seen on cameras crossing illegally into the Fronton, TX area in the RGV Saturday night. Elite Border Patrol BORTAC agents were called out & searched area, but found nobody. pic.twitter.com/9GuhQngPKj

This incident adds to the growing number of suspects thought to be cartel affiliates who are armed at the border.
In light of these recent developments, Republican leaders are now pushing for increased efforts to secure our nation’s southern border.
According to law enforcement insiders, the three men were captured on camera in Fronton region on Saturday evening.
Upon receiving news of this suspicious activity, Border Patrol – alongside their BORTAC tactical team – were immediately dispatched to investigate.
However, upon reaching the scene they didn’t encounter anyone.
This is not surprising, given that Fronton has long been known as a significant hotspot for drug trafficking and other cartel activities.
Nonetheless, it serves as proof that encounters with armed individuals at the border are common occurrences in this area and must be addressed accordingly by both federal and state officials alike.
The numbers speak for themselves: migrant encounters at the US-Mexico border have seen record highs since 2021 – with over 144,000 migrants being encountered in June alone.
Even after Title 42 was called off, there has been no sign of relief as initial numbers for July suggest an increase by 30%.
As if this wasn’t concerning enough already – last week authorities detained four sex offenders (some convicted of crimes against children) trying to make their way into America through illegal crossings.
These startling discoveries further emphasize how crucial it is that we find effective solutions quickly before it’s too late.
Last week ICE announced their intention to increase their special agents assigned along America’s southern borders while DHS requests more volunteers for processing duties should any surge occur in migrant numbers coming across illegally or otherwise.
Fronton, TX is a heavy cartel area with significant drug smuggling. Border Patrol sources tell me armed gunmen are frequently encountered there. This was another group of suspected cartel gunmen who were arrested there in June. https://t.co/SJ4koq6Fta
