As the US death toll in Maui rises, Joe Biden’s decision to go on vacation to Lake Tahoe has sparked criticism.
The Maui fire is the deadliest US blaze in more than 100 years and 1,000 people are still missing.
Despite this, Joe Biden chose to take a week-long trip leaving Camp David on Friday, August 18th.
The White House hasn’t specified whether Biden’s trip is for business or personal reasons.
Additionally, there are no public events planned while he’s at Lake Tahoe.
Many have criticized the President for ignoring dead Americans in Maui as he makes plans for his own leisurely activities.
When a reporter asked about Hawaii and the tragedy occurring there, Joe Biden callously brushed it off saying “No comment” before heading home from Delaware beach.
He refused to comment three times when asked about Hawaii prior to his return to the White House late Monday morning where he ignored reporters shuffling across the South Lawn.
Americans are outraged that Joe Biden would choose a vacation over responding to such an urgent crisis in our nation while people are dying and homes are burning down due to extreme weather conditions caused by climate change.
They argue it is irresponsible of him not only to ignore the suffering of American citizens but also prioritize his own leisurely activities over helping those who need assistance during this time of disaster and crisis.
Once again, Joe goes MIA when the country he’s supposed to be running needs him the most.
