There is a new video going around that is blowing up and conspiracy theorists are latching on to it.
In the video, it shows officers getting ready prior to the rally on January 6.
It presents a lot of questions, so I am going to try to offer up a reasonable explanation here.
What Does It Mean
So, first, here is the video that claims the entire January 6 riot was a set up…

That is a bold claim to make just from that video and I say that because it is quite common for officers to practice their roles when going undercover, if those people are actually real officers.
And I am not saying that to discredit the video, just looking at all sides here.
What I was a bit more concerned about on this front were the reports of undercover federal agents and operatives that were encouraging people to riot.
For instance, there is footage of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Electronic Surveillance Unit showing undercover police officers yelling “Go! Go! Go!” … “Go! Go! Go!” … and “Keeping going! Keep going” as the rally was turning into a riot.
The video above is nothing compared to that footage, which was aired on Fox News by Tucker Carlson.
In those cases, operatives were clearly provoking rally goers to turn this into a riot.
The government, however, continues to try to protect the majority of the identities of these officers that were undercover in the crowd.
One defendant, William Pope, has been trying to get these tapes released to prove officers were, in some cases, to blame for provoking the riot.
The government responded (and please pay attention to the wording), “Given the highly volatile nature of the discourse surrounding these cases, releasing the identities of the officers depicted in these videos — officers the defendant now claims to have instigated the entire attack on the U.S. Capitol — would surely put the lives of those officers at risk.”
So, they are not even denying the claim, just that they need to protect the identities of the officers.
I don’t know that I would go so far as to say these officers instigated the entire event, but they were clearly participating and encouraging, the exact opposite of what they should be doing in such an incident.
Something is clearly very hokey here.
