DC continues to be overrun by crime, and now it has cost a young, innocent woman her life.
A young woman from Virginia, Christy Bautista, 31, was brutally murdered in her hotel room.
She came into town for a concert, and sadly, she will never leave.
Random Violence
It is bad enough when we find out there is a reason that someone tried to kill someone.
However, when it is just random, the family is even more devastated.
Sadly, that appears to be the case here.
There was no motive, no rhyme, or reason behind this killing.
The only thing that police have stated so far is that the alleged killer, George Sydnor Jr., just wanted to kill someone.
Security footage showed Sydnor arriving at the hotel by bicycle about an hour after Bautista checked in.
He walked up to the door, listened, then opened the door, which was apparently unlocked, and entered the room.
The surveillance footage was able to capture what sounded like a struggle between the two, with Bautista screaming.
One witness stated that Bautista has opened the door yelling “Help!” while trying to get out, but she was drug back inside.
Police were called and Sydnor told them everything was fine, but police spotted blood on his hands and police opened the door with a master key.
Sydnor was calmly lighting a cigarette with Bautista lying on the floor with over 30 stab wounds.
This is the city where the city council wanted to eliminate mandatory sentences and lower penalties for some violent crimes.
