Browsing through some stories about prison deaths, I found one that literally turned my stomach.
In September, LaShawn Thompson, 35, died in Fulton County Jail in Georgia.
It is not exactly surprising that someone died in prison, but how he died is what got my attention.
According to his family and attorney, he died from insect and bed bug bites.
Just Nasty
The pictures from his cell and after being treated by paramedics is enough to turn your stomach.
I have a link at the bottom of the report where you can check them out for yourself.
The attorney for the family, Michael Harper, stated, “Three months later Mr. Thompson was found dead in a filthy jail cell after being eaten alive by insects and bed bugs.
“When his body was found one of the detention officers refused to administer CPR because in her words she ‘freaked out.’
“The jail cell Mr. Thompson was housed in was not fit for a diseased animal. He did not deserve this.”
Thompson’s cause of death was not able to be determined, but the report stated, “severe bed bug infestation” was in the cell.
An investigation has been launched and the Sheriff’s office dropped $500,000 to treat “bed bugs, lice and other vermin” at the jail.
With the majority of prison populations being minorities, you better believe Democrats are going to use this to try to empty jails more than they already have.
