Fox might suffer but Tucker should be just fine. One America News might offer $25 million to join them. Carlson made $8 million on Fox. OAN CEO Robert Herring might have offered that for an annual or over the course of a deal. If it’s yearly, it’s three times more than he made. What OAN can afford is another story. Due to liberal pressure, a deal with DirecTV fell through. It has limited distribution.
Carlson is an asset
Is he affordable is another question. Eddie McCoven was a former broadcaster of OAN til 2020, he spoke with the Times of San Diego.
McCoven wasn’t sure a deal with Carlson could be made. Among other things, OAN’s reach isn’t as large.
Carlson is a big name
McCoven explained, “It remains to be seen if OANN will survive the lawsuit it is facing from Dominion. Many colleagues tell me they can’t even keep basic newsroom positions staffed. OANN lacks the programming direction needed to support top-tier talk show talent.”
Acquiring Carlson would help OAN. Another option would be with another former Fox personality Glenn Beck of TheBlaze. Beck offered, “We would love to have you here. You won’t miss a beat. And together, the two of us will tear it up. Just tear it up.”
People love Carlson
Beck thought it would hurt Fox more than Tucker. Beck explained, “I think that will kill Fox, I really do. I know so many people that – you know – still kind of like Fox. And they watch the other shows. But they’re like, ‘Tucker, Tucker is the only one that I really trust.’”
Back at Fox there’s a rotating case of replacements, one of which is Brian Kilmeade who drew a crowd of 2.6 million. Tucker Carlson’s last time on the air drew 3.2 million viewers. Some of Kilmeade’s crowd may have come from simple curiosity from Tucker leaving.
