Even those who worried or expressed concern about a “transgender day of vengeance” had their accounts shut down temporarily. Just mentioning it was enough to arouse Twitter’s wrath, even with Elon Musk at the helm. The day after six people were killed at the hands of a transgender the social media platform suspended at least six accounts that mentioned those forbidden words.
Vengeance is violence
That violates the violent speech rule that includes, “shar[ing] abusive content, harass[ing] someone, or encourag[ing] other people to do so.” Two Daily Wire associates were suspended, Michael Knowles and Luke Rosiak. Both quoted Bible verses that urged people to leave that vengeance to God.
Federalist CEO Sean Davis, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene were also suspended for mentioning that phrase. Taylor-Greene’s account was active again Wednesday but not Davis’.
Conservatives urged against vengeance
It’s curious that those were targeted. Twitter doesn’t like even just the mention of the word. Knowles had to delete his tweet to get his account restored.
Ty Fahs of Miami Log Cabin Republicans was also suspended when he brought up a particular tweet that suggested violence against Christians. The offending tweet shows a transgender flag with a person bearing firearms and wearing a bulletproof vest. The tweet calls for beheading and crucifixion.
Vengeance is mine saith the Lord
Twitter kept Fahs in the dark as to any details of his suspension so he emailed. His response was that Twitter doesn’t “allow any violent threats on our platform in any form even if you are reposting an image with violent threats that was created by someone else.”
Fahs responded back, “I emailed her [back] and said contextually it was clear that I wasn’t inciting anything or endorsing anything. And crickets. They don’t give a s***.” Censoring anything conservative again. He had to delete his tweet before getting his account restored. Fahs then wondered if Musk taking over Twitter for free speech was all lip service. “Truthfully, it’s really kind of business as usual. And a lot of lip service to ‘oh we’re cleaning this up,’ and it’s actually not solving anything. I’m still getting banned for literally saying truthful things.”
