The $94.5 BILLION Epidemic We Face Nationwide

The nationwide shoplifting epidemic is about to be your problem. The brick and mortar retailers lost $94.5 billion last year. Consumers will be paying that in the form of higher prices across the board.

Theft problem now yours

New York Post isn’t shy about describing the problem crisis under Joe Biden’s watch as a “nationwide shoplifting epidemic.” One which is “crippling the finances of brick-and-mortar retailers.

Giants like Walmart and Target are already warning “that they may be forced to raise prices or even shutter stores in order to offset tens of billions of dollars in lost inventory.

The National Retail Foundation is estimating the size of their “shrink” problem at $94.5 billion. That’s what they call it when items on the shelves magically vanish into never-never land.

That whopping figure “is being blamed primarily on shoplifting.” The number is so huge it boggles the mind but your eyes will bug out like Adam Schiff’s when you see your next grocery bill.

Last year alone, thanks to decriminalization, just the problem of “organized” shoplifting spiked 26.5%. That led to a crackdown on gang looting but nobody will touch the issue of stealing for personal use. That’s still allowed.

It’s also the reason why many retailers are closing the doors and moving to more conservative climates.

Scores of brazen incidents

Even though it’s almost 100 billion bucks, that represents “1.4% of retail revenue in 2021.” In other words, expect each and every item on the shelves to get a price bump. While 1.5% or so across the board doesn’t sound like a huge problem, it won’t work that way.

Retailers don’t sell everything they stock and some things fly off the shelves faster. It’s the popular ones which will get the price increase. A large enough one to make up for the entire loss.

Even with miles of video footage recording the problem of “shoplifting incidents involving thieves who brazenly steal goods from retailers,” Democrat officials refuse to do anything about it.

Ever since Joe Biden took over, the crisis exploded. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 emergency took away staff which helped security prevent the losses.

COVID was a big help to shoplifters while making things worse for retailers and consumers. “Supply chain shortages have also enabled shoplifters to sell stolen goods at a premium on eBay, Amazon, and other secondary market facilitators.

The NRF is in panic mode. Target was another giant retailer with a big bullseye for thieves. “The retail chain said it expects a $600 million loss for full fiscal year compared to last year.” That’s not their problem, it’s yours.
