Washington Capitol inauguration riots

This weekend could be a rough one around the country.

If history repeats itself, our streets are about to be on fire.

Memphis police are about to release bodycam footage of the Tyre Richards case, and it is not going be be pleasant.

Dig In

Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis announced that the footage will be released very soon.

She announced this prior to try to get people to calm down due to the nature of the cam footage.

Five police officers, black police officers, are shown beating on Richards after he tried to flee the scene.

Richards stated, “This is not just a professional failing.

“This is a failing of basic humanity toward another individual.”

She further stated that the five officers involved in the arrest “failed our community, and they failed the Nichols family.

“That is beyond regrettable.

“In the vein of transparency, when the video is released in the coming days, you will see this for yourselves.

“I expect you to feel what the Nichols family feels.

“I expect you to feel outraged by the disregard for basic human rights as our police officers have taken an oath to do the opposite of what transpired on the video.”

While she expects protests, she is hoping beyond hope that cooler heads prevail.

She stated “I expect our citizens to exercise their First Amendment right to protest, to demand action and results.

“But, we need to ensure our community is safe in this process.”

Will this be a repeat of George Floyd or will things stay calm, relatively speaking, since we know Floyd’s death was used as a way to remove Trump from office?
