Pakistani Tribe Order Young Girl to be BURNT ALIVE

A tribal council ordered 17-year-old Ambreen Riasat to be burnt alive after she helped a friend elope with a man she loved. 

Riasat’s body was discovered in a torched van near a tourist resort in northwestern Pakistan. 

According to police, the girl had been strangled to death before her body was tossed in the van and set alight. 

Police arrested 15 members of the council, locally known as Jirga.

Apparently the council ordered the killing as punishment for what they are calling irreparable damage to the reputation of the village. 

Shockingly, Riasat’s mother and brother were also arrested as they were present during the meeting and allegedly agreed to the horrific sentence.

These councils are typically called as a means of local conflict resolution, however they have no legal standing under Pakistani law. 

The incident caused absolute outrage on social media.

According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, over 500 men and women were killed as part of honor killings just last year.

The worst part is that many of the crimes were carried out by relatives who claim the victim brought shame on their family.
