Rush Limbaugh had a touching message for his listeners on Thanksgiving Day. The patriot radio host has been battling stage 4 lung cancer and may not have much time left. He thanked his millions of fans for giving him an amazing life.
Rush Limbaugh gives thanks
Rush Limbaugh has become one of the most revered Right-wing voices on talk radio. The Rush Limbaugh show has been in syndication on AM and FM stations since 1988.
The show currently gets more than 15 million listeners every week. He’s also written several best selling books. He’s been battling a number of health problems in recent years.
In 2001, Limbaugh told listeners that he had gone almost completely deaf. “I cannot hear television. I cannot hear music. I am, for all practical purposes, deaf – and it’s happened in three months.”
He was able to regain much of his hearing after getting cochlear implants. In January of 2020, he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Sadly, the treatment was unable to contain the cancer and he was given a terminal diagnoses.
He has not shared the expected timeline with listeners. Yet still, Limbaugh shows up to do the show most days and he’s kept a good attitude. This holiday he wanted to thank his listeners.
“And I don’t know why Christmas time as opposed to Thanksgiving, but I thought I would switch it up this year and reiterate these things that I try to share with you each and every year at Christmas time or during this holiday-type season… I owe so many people so much. I’m never gonna be able to adequately thank the people who are responsible for one of the greatest lives anybody could have. I am doing what I was born to do.”
Medal of Freedom from Trump
Rush Limbaugh has been a strong supporter of President Donald Trump. Although he endorsed Ted Cruz early on, he quickly backed Trump once he won the nomination. During the 2020 State of The Union Address, President Trump awarded Rush Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his patriotism and devotion to the country.
President Trump said during the address, “A special man beloved by millions of Americans. Who just received a stage 4 lung cancer diagnoses. This is not good news. But what is good news is he is the greatest fighter and winner that you will ever meet. Rush Limbaugh, thank you, for your decades of tireless devotion to our country.” You can watch the touching moment in the video below.
