Maine’s Department of Education and the Maine Principals’ Association are standing by their transgender policy for men in women’s sports in defiance of the Trump executive order. A boy who identified as transgender won first place in a women’s pole vaulting competition at the state’s Class B Championship. The following day the Education Dept. launched a Title IX investigation into Maine.

Then the state will lose funding

The MSAD 51 Superintendent Jeff Porter sent out an email to parents.

“I have been in touch with the Department of Education as recently as Friday and have been told there are no anticipated changes in the state’s direction in the near future. As such, we will continue to abide by state law and our local district policies. First, and foremost, I want to express the district’s unwavering support for all of our students. This support is not based upon any viewpoint, opinion, or identity. This support is unconditional for all students as valued members of our school community.”

Porter said they’re sticking to state law.

“The Maine Department of Education (MDOE) sent out a memo to districts stating, ‘The Executive Order Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government applies to the federal government/federal government agencies only and does not inhibit the force of Maine law or locally-adopted school board policies,” Porter continued. “Maine schools are expected to abide by the Maine Human Rights Act (MHRA).’”

Trump boldly spoke

He had a meeting with the Governors Working Session where he spoke about the NCAA compliance with his executive order. Trump said, among other things, that Maine citizens don’t want men in women’s sports. Mills said she’d comply with state and federal law.

Trump responded, “We are the federal law. You better do it. Because you’re not going to get any federal funding at all if you don’t. And by the way, your population, even though it is somewhat liberal although I did very well there. Your population doesn’t want men playing in women’s sports. You better comply because otherwise you’re not getting any federal funding.”

So Trump is withholding funding

He founded out recently that men were still playing in women’s sports so money is being pulled. The USDA did a compliance review of the University of Maine right after Trump found out that happened.

Trump slammed the governor in front of everybody at that meeting. Governor Mills may have wanted that first place overall to the detriment of the ladies in that competition.
