It is about four years too late, but better late than never, as they say.
META CEO Mark Zuckerberg penned a letter to Congress admitting that he got duped by the FBI into “demoting” the Hunter Biden laptop story.
I still believe if that story had been fully circulated during the 2020 election, Donald Trump would be president today.
I Was Wrong
While everyone reading this knew about the laptop story, just about everyone on the other side of the aisle was duped by Joe Biden’s buddies in intelligence, who said the laptop appeared to be Russian disinformation.
Then the FBI, without actually investigating the laptop, which they had, warned Facebook that there was the possibility of Russian disinformation being put out there to hurt Joe Biden.
So, of course, Facebook and Twitter killed the story.
As we now know, the story was real, yet the narrative pitched by Dems was so strong there are still liberals who believe Trump and the Russians planted the story.
Well, Zuckerberg at least tried to set the record straight.
In his letter, he stated, “I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it.
“I feel strongly that we should not compromise our content standards due to pressure from any Administration in either direction — and we’re ready to push back if something like this happens again.”
He added, “It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story.”
I have always believed the intelligence officials who wrote that letter should have been charged with election interference.
That letter arguably had the biggest impact on that election, largely because it was used by the media to debunk the story about the laptop, which would ultimately be legitimate.
I would even say that Director Wray should be investigated since he was the Director when the FBI warned social media platforms about possible Russian disinformation.
