In a groundbreaking move, former President Donald Trump has made the executive decision to skip not one, not two, but three GOP debates. While some may be scratching their heads on Trump’s decision, the move is meant to keep him apart from his lower-polling competitors in the field and may be part of a larger strategy to ensure his victory over current President Joe Biden next year.
Looks like the Republican National Committee (RNC) is dealing with a bit of deja vu.

Recently, Trump revealed that he will skip the second debate scheduled for September 27th at the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.
In its place, he plans to speak directly to UAW workers on strike instead, a decision which has been met with criticism by union leaders but could prove beneficial politically.
Without Trump present, Fox News saw a sharp drop in viewership when compared to his interview with Tucker Carlson which had higher ratings than their usual programming.
Additionally, speaking directly to citizens in Michigan—a key swing state that Trump won in 2016—could raise his profile even more before primary elections take place later this year.
In response, the RNC announced it would be changing venues for the third debate from Tuscaloosa, Alabama—where they had previously hoped would entice President Trump’s participation—to Miami instead.
Despite four criminal indictments against him and fewer campaign stops than other candidates running against him, polls still show that Donald is leading with around 60% support among GOP voters; Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis have yet to make much headway as his closest rivals for second place.
Nevertheless, an advisor close to President Trump revealed they were not consulted about changing locations for this debate.
The RNC seems determined to not let Donald Trump derail their efforts in organizing an effective presidential primary season however, it remains unclear how successful their attempts will be without his presence at debates or campaigning events across America.
