One of the biggest influences in fashion has passed away.
Jane Birkin, who was a British actress and singer, died in Paris recently.
She was 76 years old.

Birkin was actually the inspiration behind the iconic Hermès Birkin bag.
The fact this even happened was just an odd coincidence.
Birkin loved Hermès bags, but they were all small bags at the time.
Then, while on a trip, she happened to be sitting next to Jean-Louis Dumas, the chairman and head designer of Hermès, on a plane.
Birkin was pitching a fit that Hermès did not make a bag big enough to fit all of her things, and the next thing you knew, Hermès released an oversized bag and even named it after Birkin.
From then on, Birkin would be associated with larger purses, including basket bags.
