People who prey on children need to be dealt with swiftly and firmly.
When they abuse the system, meaning they get to children via positions of trust, they are especially scummy people.
That would be how I would describe a charity worker in Ukraine that has just been detained.
Sick People
According to the report, the man was offering to give children in need in Ukraine safe passage and adoption.
In one instance, he offered a woman $5,000 for the child.
His intention, however, was to sell the child to human traffickers for $25,000, not put the child up for adoption.
He had reportedly done the same thing successfully on three previous occasions.
Both the man and his female accomplice were taken into custody as they attempted to cross the Ukraine-Slovakia border with the child mentioned above.
Thankfully, this child was saved.
Karolina Wierzbińska, a coordinator at the human rights organization Homo Faber in the Polish city of Lublin, stated, “[We see teams] waiting for people arriving from Ukraine and pretending to offer rides or lodging to women distressed and exhausted from their journey.
“We’re also seeing multiple couples, typically a male and a female, having traveled to the border by car, attempting to lure women using similar tactics.
“We intervene in such cases by approaching the person acting suspiciously and asking them to register in our volunteer directory – in response to which they typically run away.”
Aagje Ieven, secretary general of Missing Children Europe, added, “There are so many children […] that we lost track of.
“This is a huge problem, not just because it means they easily go missing, and are difficult to find, but also because it makes trafficking so easy.”
I wish I could say that I am shocked that there are people out there willing to turn tragedy into profit via the exploitation of children, but I am not.
Even in this country, the idea of what “protecting” children has changed completely on the left.
They are more interested in enabling transition surgeries and gender identity than they are in stopping human trafficking.
