It appears that France is literally a pressure cooker, with each crisis revealing deeper tensions and conflicts within the society. French President Emmanuel Macron has been facing difficult situations since his first term, from Yellow Jackets Protest to the Wuhan coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
Now as riots continue to shatter the country, top military officials have warned that if order isn’t restored soon, they will take action–even arresting Macron himself.
According to several senior officers in France, the French army is prepared to temporarily seize control of the government and detain President Macron due to his failure in maintaining law and order in the country.
This warning was allegedly made by former chief of the Armed Forces of France General Pierre de Villiers. He fell out with Macron over his globalist policies which he publicly criticized during a row over defense spending cuts.
Additionally, De Villiers believes that European countries should work towards de-escalating Russian-Ukraine war instead of following America’s “high-risk escalator policies”.
Reports also claim that rioters have armed themselves with automatic weapons thus creating an even more alarming situation where it seems like President Emmanuel Macron is losing control of events on ground.
This is not the first time Emmanuel Macron has found himself amidst a political crisis; last March he asked Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne to invoke Article 49:3 of French Constitution after raising retirement age from 62 to 64 claiming it was necessary for keeping economy competitive and preventing pension program from going into deficit.
The president argued that “financial risks were too great” had National Assembly members rejected this proposal – however this angered many citizens who took part in protests calling for him either resigning or being removed from office entirely.
Despite ex-National Rally President Marine Le Pen refraining herself from fueling a backlash against rioters and sticking her strategy of embracing mainstream politics, her successor Jordan Bardella believes this unrest has exposed frailties which could encourage populist discourse among people even further – adding up fuel to fire.
At present nothing can be said with certainty whether or not ultimatum issued by 20 senior officers warning arrestment of President Emmanuel Macron unless order is restored imminently is real or propaganda but one thing remains certain – French citizens are terrorized and their cities burn while its politicians are unable (or unwilling) to do anything about it despite all promises made during election campaigns.
