House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) dropped a bit of a bombshell this week.
McCarthy has been pretty quiet on the impeachment front.
That changed, however, as he dropped a name at the top of his list.
Time to Go
McCarthy has been hesitant to back any impeachment of Joe Biden, for two reasons.
First, it will never make its way through the Senate, so a House impeachment is nothing more than a headline grabber and a complete and utter waste of taxpayer money.
Second, Kamala Harris is waiting in the wings to take over, which should be enough to scare anyone away from removing Biden from office.
Attorney General Merrick Garland, however, is another matter.
With new allegations that the DOJ had interfered in the IRS investigation into Hunter Biden, McCarthy is now ready to pull the trigger.
He stated, “These are IRS long term workers who’ve been through it and watched the abuse of power of how Hunter Biden was treated.
“I mean, they even waited to get the six-year statute of limitation off where they Burisma money. He didn’t get charged for some of the highest prosecution.
“They want to have a special counsel.
“And now we’re seeing that the DOJ, the attorney general, declined that, even though he’s saying something different.
“None of it smells right and none of it is right.”
As such, McCarthy is now hinting that an impeachment inquiry into Garland could be on the House docket very soon.
Ian Sams, spokesperson for the White House counsel’s office, continues to offer a very weak counter to these allegations.
He stated, “Speaker McCarthy and the extreme House Republicans are proving they have no positive agenda to actually help the American people on the issues most important to them and their families.”
He then spewed debunked policy, such as the idea that Biden “created” 13 million jobs, when they were jobs that came back after COVID.
One has nothing to do with the other, however.
If people are corrupt, they need to be held accountable.
Congress is capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time.
I would also point out the hypocrisy of Sims’ statement when you consider that Democrats were launching Trump investigations before he ever took office and are still digging into him.
