The Supreme Court has dealt Donald Trump yet another massive blow.
Of all justices to shoot down his case, it was Justice Thomas that issued the denial.
Trump’s Mar-a-Lago case will NOT go before the Supreme Court.
No
Trump had requested for the special master to review the documents the DOJ said were classified from the stash taken from Mar-a-Lago.
The court responded, “The application to vacate the stay entered by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit on September 21, 2022, presented to Justice Thomas and by him referred to the Court is denied.”
The case started before the judge that ruled in favor of the special master being used.
Her decision was overturned in the 11th Circuit.
The Supreme Court has decided to abide by that ruling.
In the appeal, the DOJ stated that Trump “certainly cannot establish the clear error required to justify the relief he seeks — particularly because he does not acknowledge, much less attempt to rebut, the court of appeals’ conclusion that the district court’s order was a serious and unwarranted intrusion on the Executive Branch’s authority to control the use and distribution of extraordinarily sensitive government records.”
It concluded, “The application should be denied.”
Trump’s team argued that “the unprecedented circumstances presented by this case — an investigation of the Forty-Fifth President of the United States by the administration of his political rival and successor — compelled the District Court to acknowledge the significant need for enhanced vigilance and to order the appointment of a Special Master to ensure fairness, transparency, and maintenance of the public trust.”
Trump continues to say the documents in his possession were not classified.
It is unlikely we will see any real progress on this case until after the midterm elections have concluded.
