Florida Governor Ron DeSantis slammed Biden for telling people we weren’t in recession when by definition we actually are due to his policies. Gross domestic product fell by 0.9% during the second quarter. We’ve had two consecutive quarters of negative growth since in the first quarter GDP fell further, 1.6%. That’s always been the definition of recession. Even before this the definition was being worked on.

DeSantis on Twitter

He tweeted out, “U.S. GDP dropped for a second quarter in a row, which is the definition of a recession.” Brian Deese is the White House economic advisor. He said, “Two negative quarters of GDP growth is not the technical definition of recession.”

Biden said, “It’s no surprise that the economy is slowing down as the Federal Reserve acts to bring down inflation.” He deflected from the word recession by bringing up the better job numbers, saying again, “That doesn’t sound like recession to me.”

DeSantis said nope

He said, “While the Biden Administration and its legacy media cheerleaders are trying to gaslight people about the economic slowdown, we have seen Biden’s poor economic stewardship and the negative impact it has had on families.” DeSantis thinks the Biden policies have cost us dearly and says so often.

If big spending bills continue it’s only going to get worse. “Now, Biden wants to tax and spend even more, which will only make things worse.”

DeSantis can see it

The Biden administration and Joe Manchin came to an agreement on the Build Back Better bill called the “Inflation Reduction Act 2022”. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell sees it too, “Democrats have already crushed American families with historic inflation. Now they want to pile on giant tax hikes that will hammer workers and kill many thousands of American jobs. First they killed your family’s budget. Now they want to kill your job too.”

The Republican governor has seen this coming for some time. “When you’re leading, you have to look to see what kind of trouble could come on the horizon. However, you look at what’s going on out of Washington, you look at the inflation that’s absolutely out of control.” He continued that there is a “very good chance that the Biden administration plunges this country into a recession. And so we have to be prepared for that. I think we’ve got a lot of good stuff going. Hopefully, we’ll be able to weather better than most” in the Sunshine State.”
