The announcement that we have been waiting for has finally been made.
We all wanted to know what Jack Smtih was going to do after the obstruction and presidential immunity decisions were released by the Supreme Court.
He has finally responded with a superseding indictment against Trump, and the former president is not happy.
Witch Hunt!
Smith broke the news this week, and it went over like a ton of bricks in the Trump camp.
Smith stated, “The superseding indictment, which was presented to a new grand jury that had not previously heard evidence in this case, reflects the Government’s efforts to respect and implement the Supreme Court’s holdings and remand instructions.”
There were some minor changes to the indictment, but the heart of the charges against Trump remained intact.
During the trial, it will now be up to Judge Chutkan to decide what acts committed by Trump fall under presidential duties and those of a private citizen.
After the indictment was announced, Trump posted on Truth Social.
He stated, “This ridiculous political HOAX, which most thought was already won by me, comes right out of the White House and DOJ, and is being pushed by Kamala Harris and Crooked Joe Biden against their political opponent, ME.”
Trump also said, “No Presidential Candidate, or Candidate for any Office, has ever had to put up with all of this Lawfare and Weaponization directly out of the Office of a Political Opponent.
“They’ve Weaponized local D.A.s and Attorney Generals, and anybody else that will listen, to Interfere with the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election – Never been done before.
“This is now Kamala’s [Harris’] Weaponized System against her Political Opponent.
“All of these Scams will fail, just as Deranged Jack’s Hoax in Florida has been fully dismissed, and we will win the Most Important Election in the History of our Country on November 5th. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
I don’t believe Trump will see the inside of a courtroom in this trial until after the election.
If Trump wins, he is unlikely to stand trial because a sitting president cannot be put on trial.
However, if he loses, Trump’s legal calendar will be full and his checkbook will be screaming from the legal fees.
