In order to understand what California Democrats do, you have to understand what motivates them. They’re liberals that constantly need to feel morally superior. They defend the indefensible. In Sacramento, the Senate voted to include illegal immigrants in their first-time buyer’s program. The problem is the program has no money. The vote was to expand a program that has no funding.
California is a mess
Nobody knows the exact vote count either. KCRA and a couple other outlets reported a party line vote of 23 Democrats and 11 Republicans with some Democrats abstaining.
But the Senate’s composition doesn’t lend itself to that. There’s 31 Democrats and only nine Republicans, making a 23-11 vote impossible.
The national legislative tracking device Legiscan is off too with the final vote 25-14. According to Legiscan, six Democrats voted against it, but one of those Democrats became a Republican earlier this month.
California Republicans
Bottom line is Republicans voted against it. Between two and five Democrats did the same thing.
The citizens need to know where the state betrayed them. According to KCRA, the California Dream for All program ran out of money only 11 days into the program. It provided money to 1,700 first time homebuyers in June.
One person wrote on social media, “Admittedly, they have no real way of funding this. You just can’t make this up.” Republican State Sen. Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh noted the irony toward legal immigrants.
California is backwards
Ochoa Bogh spoke with KCRA, “The U.S. as a whole has one million immigrants that come here legally, many of them are hoping to get assistance to purchase a home, this particular bill actually disenfranchises and disrespects those who have gone through the process who are ready to purchase or would like to purchase a home.”
The state is in a horrible financial state. If this bill is funded it will hurt veterans.
Brian Dahle said the state faces an enormous deficit,
“It would be so very wrong to prioritize undocumented immigrants over the men and women who have made great sacrifices in military service to our country. California is struggling with a multi-billion dollar deficit, and numerous housing and homelessness programs providing vital assistance to so many struggling Californians face budget cuts. AB 1840 would short-change veterans even more.”
Democrats voted for the bill but they didn’t vote to fund it. Clear virtue signaling.
