The Biden campaign insists the president is staying in the race. Senior Democrats are leaking that he needs to exit the race. Some in Hollywood has asked the president to step down so there’s a lot of pressure. The chaos of the rumors is off the charts. The queen bee herself, Pelosi, told the president privately he cannot win against Trump and might even be a problem for House Democrats. But he’s not leaving.
Biden is the presumptive nominee
The more recent Democrats to ask him to drop out have been Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries. Schumer’s office spoke with ABC. “Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus.”
A spokesman for Jeffries said similar, “The letter sent by Leader Hakeem Jeffries to his House Democratic colleagues speaks for itself. It was a private conversation that will remain private.”
But the senior campaign advisor TJ Ducklo tried to assure people that he was staying in. He wrote on X, “Joe Biden is his party’s nominee. He’s the President of the United States. He’s running for reelection. Baseless conjecture from anonymous sources isn’t a scoop. Tonight a convicted felon will talk about how he’ll make people’s lives worse if he gains power. Let’s focus.”
Biden isn’t going anywhere
The president said he’s seen polls that said he could win. Pelosi had a longtime advisor get on a call to talk about the polling.
Among the Democrats adding to the cacophony is Adam Schiff. Schiff asked him to step down. He needs to “pass the torch. I have serious concerns about whether the President can defeat Donald Trump in November.”
The president is isolating in Delaware after testing positive for COVID. Karine Jean-Pierre said he’s “experiencing mild symptoms.”
Trump leads Biden
Trump leads by 2.7 points nationwide according to the RealClearPolitics average. Trump leads in eight swing states as well, Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia.
Barack Obama also privately asked the president to step down. He fears Biden will be crushed against Trump.
Obama is pulling strings to try to get him out of the race. He’s seen the polls and donors dropping off.
