On Monday night, November 6, during an operation to map out the family home of 16-year-old Palestinian who carried out a stabbing attack near Herod’s Gate entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City, Border Police officer Rose Elisheva Lubin was killed, as well as another border cop injured.
Groups of Palestinians began throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at IDF troops resulting in clashes with Israeli soldiers which left one man dead and two others wounded.
The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Sa’ad Nimr Al-Faroukh from Hebron’s Ahli Hospital according to Palestinian media reports.
As part of their efforts to deter future attacks, Israeli authorities have resorted to the controversial practice of home demolitions. This is done by mapping out the family homes of attackers or suspected terrorists before they are destroyed.
Unfortunately, this policy has been widely condemned by human rights groups and the US alike for being an act of collective punishment against innocent civilians instead of targeting those responsible for violence.
