The fight for Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is not over quite yet.
After losing the gavel, it became apparent to many that McCarthy was a bit of a fraud in terms of supporting the MAGA agenda.
A local small business owner is trying to capitalize on that to oust McCarthy from a seat that he has owned since first winning it in 2007.
Time to Fight
McCarthy has been a fundraising animal since he came into office.
He is always among the top earners in the party, so this is not going to be an easy right for Republican candidate David Giglio.
In announcing the challenge, Giglio stated, “Kevin McCarthy has failed the American people.
“I am excited to announce my campaign to defeat Kevin McCarthy in California’s 20th Congressional District.
“After years of being sold out to special interests, the people of the Central Valley deserve an America First Republican fighting for them in Washington and working alongside President Donald Trump to WAGE WAR against the corrupt uniparty!
“Kevin McCarthy was removed as Speaker by 8 courageous members of his party for failing to keep to his promises and capitulating to Joe Biden and the radical Democrats.
“Kevin McCarthy must be defeated.”
I agree, but I’m just not sure that is possible with McCarthy’s war chest.
What I would encourage everyone to watch, however, is how Donald Trump handles this primary.
Trump and McCarthy have been allies since Trump entered the political scene, but Giglio is openly MAGA, so if Trump stays out of this primary, it is just as good as an endorsement for Giglio.
