In response to the unprecedented attack on Israel led by terrorist group Hamas on Saturday, October 7, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu has urged civilians located in the Gaza Strip to “leave now” as a complete siege has completely cut off all essentials to the region. Unfortunately, exits to and from Gaza are being closed off, leaving over 2 million people trapped with no where to go.
This request comes with a warning of potential military action that could turn Gaza into ‘rubble’ and result in an ‘unprecedented price’ being paid by its citizens. All checkpoints between Israel and Gaza have been shut down, while Egypt has also reportedly closed their sole point of access at Rafah Crossing due to fear of further Israeli bombings.
This is especially concerning since this densely populated area only covers 139 square miles, about 15 times denser than Israel itself.

In response to the assault by Hamas, Israeli forces have launched retaliatory airstrikes which have left 765 dead in Gaza alone according to the Health Ministry there. Furthermore, 14 Americans are among those killed with more potentially held as hostages by Hamas.
The besieged area now faces further isolation as both access points between Israel and Egypt are closed off and essentials like food, energy, fuel, water and medicine have been cut off as part of what Israeli ministers refer to as a “siege” of Gaza.

With 2 million people living in an area only 25 miles long and 6 miles wide, this conflict is having devastating consequences for families across the region. Residents are facing starvation due to lack of food supplies while others suffer from lack of access medical care or even basic necessities such as water or energy.
It is unclear when this crisis will end but it is clear that immediate assistance must be offered if these families hope to survive until then.
The magnitude of what Israel is afflicting on Gaza: They have dropped over 1000 tonnes of bombs on hundreds of *targets* within hours. People cannot leave, no supplies can enter. There are 5,500 people per square kilometer trapped in the strip. We are witnessing actual genocide. https://t.co/xpnkwfQvJF
