On the evening of Monday, September 25, the U.S. Secret Service reported two people being arrested near the White House after ammunition was found inside of their vehicle in plain sight. According to White House correspondent Peter Doocy, the incident occurred on G Street between 14th and 15th Streets.
The individuals were arrested without incident for weapons charges. They have not been publicly identified as of yet.

Routine patrol officers noticed the parked car with ammunition in plain sight and when the occupants returned they were questioned, searched, and taken into custody without any trouble or resistance.
According to the Secret Service statement to Fox News, this kind of occurrence is common as their officers often patrol around protected sites and assist DC police with crime suppression efforts.
There was no disruption to protective operations at the White House from these arrests either.
Earlier this year a person was apprehended near the White House after crashing a U-Haul truck into security barriers while another individual was detained last month for allegedly attacking a Secret Service officer outside of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue unprovoked.
Although motives are unclear, neither person caused life-threatening injury to any personnel involved in either incidents nor did they cause significant damage or disruption to those areas either.
Sai Varshith Kandula, 19 years old from Chesterfield, Missouri who crashed his box truck faced charges such as “Threaten To Kill/Kidnap/Inflict Harm On A President/VP/Family Member” in addition to destruction of federal property and trespassing according to authorities at the scene of that particular event which unfolded on May 22.
The US Secret Service has handled multiple incidents involving persons attempting illegal activities around 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue quite adeptly over recent years and it seems their presence along with DC Police’s assistance have provided safety not only for government personnel but citizens alike who may wander too close for comfort during visits or trips through Washington D.C.’s downtown area.
