Fans across the world were deeply impacted by the sudden and unexpected death of beloved comedian Ron Sexton. And until now, his cause of death remained a mystery, despite some speculation on what could’ve happened. Sexton’s death has officially been ruled as a fentanyl and alcohol overdose after he was discovered dead in his hotel room.
The Hamilton County coroner in Ohio confirmed the cause of death to The U.S. Sun, explaining that the toxic effects of both substances were present in his system with a blood alcohol level of .202 at the time of his passing.
Ron had recently begun traveling for performances on The Bob and Tom Morning radio show, performing his Donnie Baker standup act when tragedy struck.
A friend called authorities when he failed to appear for a meeting before one such performance in Dayton Ohio back in July, prompting initial criminal investigations which have since been dropped according to the coroner’s office.
Court documents listed Ron’s wife, Tracey, as next-of-kin but also noted an alleged mistress referred to as Ms. Berkemeier or “girlfriend” by Ron himself who was included on police reports as an offender/involved/victim (OIV).
Months before Ron’s untimely death he had been the victim of a shooting incident while driving back from a meeting with this supposed mistress at an Indianapolis bar – her husband allegedly firing nine shots into his rental car according to police reports.
Attempted murder charges against Paul Berkemeier were dropped last month due to insufficient evidence.
Ron leaves behind four children and a grieving widow Tracey who will now face life without their beloved husband and father respectively.
It is yet another tragic reminder that substance abuse can affect our lives even when we think we are simply having harmless fun – always remember that there is no such thing as safe use whether it be drinking or taking drugs recreationally no matter your age or status in life.
