Former President Jimmy Carter is getting older and his health is declining according to his grandson Hugo Wentzel in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

In the show “Claim to Fame” contestants are tasked with trying to identify famous relatives of other contestants.

Wentzel was recently kicked off the show but he provided some insights about Carter in his exit interview.

Wentzel revealed that it has been harder and harder for him to see his grandfather as they have had to abide by COVID regulations.

He stated that a lot of time is spent taking care of him due to his deteriorating health.

Despite this, Wentzel reassured that Carter knows he loves him and they are doing their best to support him during this difficult time.

He added that the former president listens frequently to audiobooks as he attempts at keeping his brain active.

The Carter Center released a statement saying that after a few short hospital stays, Jimmy Carter decided against receiving any more medical interventions and would instead spend the rest of his time at home with family under hospice care instead.

They asked for privacy during this period since it was difficult for them all but were grateful for all the support shown by well-wishers around the world.

At 98 years old, Jimmy Carter has lived longer than any other US president, having outlived George H W Bush according to The New York Times.

He currently resides in Plains, Georgia with wife Rosalynn who has also been diagnosed with dementia recently.
