It seems like Kai Cenat found the easiest way to start a riot, offer to give away a PS5. He picked a great location when he selected Union Square in New York. Cenat manages to rake in fat stacks by streaming his antics on Twitch, then posting the highlight reels on YouTube. When he announced a free giveaway, chaos ensued. Anarchists looking for free gizmos quickly overwhelmed the impotent police.
Full-on riot
Kai Cenat is beaming with pride over the “full-on riot” he started in New York City’s Union Square on August 4. He showed no remorse but the judge didn’t care. Cenat was handed a bench appearance ticket and sent along to cause more chaos another day.
The internet superstar couldn’t wait to update his millions of adoring fans with Instagram images and clips from “local television news depicting the out-of-control throng.” If it had happened in Chicago it would be called a “large gathering” because the word “mob” has been removed from the mayor’s dictionary.
The offer of a free PS5 was enough to leave seven injured. Police actually bothered to arrest 66 of the anarchists. Prosecuting them is an entirely different story. Anyone not named Trump is free to do as they please in Manhattan, which is where Union Square is located.

It’s not a riot, Alvin Bragg insists, because Donald Trump didn’t incite it. It seems that Cenat’s followers in the vicinity don’t have much in the way of manners. the “unsanctioned event” quickly spiraled out of control.
Cenat boasts “20 million followers across multiple platforms” who feed his ego by transferring over dump truck loads of cash to his bank accounts. All he had to do to start a riot to overwhelm police and city resources, causing hours of violence and mayhem, is wave around a handful of gift cards on Twitch. Along with the promise of a highly in demand game console.
If he said he was going to let them fight for it, a significant fraction of the city’s violent criminals would be DOA before a winner was announced.
Mixed reactions online
Not all of Cenat’s fans were happy with his bid to score views. “Hey sorry I missed your little get together in Union Square. How did it go?” snarked parkedinny.
Apugeddon suggested, “You are not a star! You are a freeloading clown! Go to work,” while mishmosh1127 noted “Keep the PlayStations to yourself next time..” Let them whine, Cenat grins. There’s nothing like a huge riot to boost your ratings.
The 21-year-old media sensation is too cool for rules. He didn’t bother asking for “a permit for his gaming accessory giveaway in the park.”

Police say that the “3:30 p.m. event quickly devolved into violent chaos as thousands of young fans stormed the surrounding streets.” He should have expected a riot, they insist. They arrested him for it but the judge already turned him loose.
Out of the 65 fans arrested for mayhem of various degrees, 30 were “juveniles,” police relate. Despite the fact it was clearly a riot, they aren’t allowed to call the misbehaving boys “juvenile delinquents.” They cheerfully tossed “cones, bottles, and rocks at one another, as well as innocent passersby and responding officers.” Three of the city’s cops are on the injury list.
When things got really tense, police grabbed Cenat by the shoulders and hauled him up over a wall to get him out of there. While he’s charged with some minor misdemeanors, he was mostly held in protective custody. They want him healthy, in case they need another riot at the drop of a hat to distract from real news again.
