It sure looks like the pressure is getting ramped up against Speaker McCarthy to impeach Joe Biden.
House members know this will fail in the Senate, but they are going to throw caution to the wind.
The latest Republican to join the call for impeachment is Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL).
Overwhelming Evidence
Stuebe was on Fox News with Mario Bartiromo.
She asked him, “So, congressman, we have now umpteen times Devon Archer said that Hunter Biden put his father on speakerphone 20 times during business meetings.
“We now have evidence that Joe Biden showed up at a business meeting at Cafe Milano in Washington, DC.
“I know there’s a lot of pressure on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to start this impeachment inquiry. Do you believe that will take place in September when you all return.”
Steube responded, “I personally intend on filing our own impeachment resolution just based on the corruption and bribery information that’s been brought forward to the House.
“Obviously, that goes through the Judiciary Committee. So that’s going to be up to Jim Jordan. But you’re right.
“Ultimately, it’s up to Speaker McCarthy, who has now opened up. He has said openly that he is looking to that, which is certainly more language from him than I’ve seen previously.
“But I can tell you there’s way more evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors that we have before the American people that the House has been able to uncover because we have the majority and have been doing all these investigations.
“It is long past time to start the impeachment process.”
I only have one real concern about this.
I believe that McCarthy would ensure every Republican voted in favor of this before putting it on the House floor.
The problem then comes in the Senate, where several Republicans have already expressed concerns about this, including Senate Minority Leader McConnell (R-KY).
If McConnell is against it, that means he can probably get his fellow RINOs in the Senate to vote against it as well, which would only create ammunition to use against House Republicans in the next election cycle.
And if we take back the Senate and manage to win back the White House, but lose the House, we are right back to where we were in 2018.
We need a clean sweep in 2024, so Republicans need to be very careful about how they proceed here.
