Donald Trump is now looking to have the primary election handed to him.
He was attacking Ron DeSantis long before DeSantis ever announced.
Now, with DeSantis the only candidate who is even remotely challenging Trump, the former president is calling on DeSantis to drop out and fall in line behind his campaign.
Not Happening
This weekend, during an interview, Trump stated, “I think he has to get out for the good of the party.
“He could have waited, and he would have been odds-on favorite for ’28, but he didn’t do that.
“I got him elected. If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t be governor; he’d be working in a law office right now or doing whatever he was going to do.”
After all the things that Trump has said about DeSantis, that is not going to happen, especially with all the legal problems that Trump has right now.
Fair or not, Trump could literally be running a presidential campaign from jail, so I will need someone to explain to me how that helps the conservative movement.
I supported Trump in 2016 and 2020, but I have to admit, the legal problems are scary simply because of this horrifying unknown factor of how these cases are going to pan out.
There is simply no way Trump gets elected if he gets convicted, regardless of his bravado, so it is way too early to tell candidates to drop out.
Let’s just keep plugging away because we just may need DeSantis in reserve if Trumps winds up in an orange jumpsuit.
