How do you take down a giant?
Well, you chip away, looking for weaker parts and you apply pressure.
That is what Special Counsel Jack Smith is doing to the Trump camp, and he is finding success.
Right or Wrong
The funny thing about this strategy is that right and wrong matter little.
Prosecutors will find a tiny thread on what seems to be an inconsequential cog and they will start to pull.
They can make a small offense into something that appears far worse in the eyes of the person being targeted, squeezing them until they pop and give them the information they want about the overall target.
Notice I said the information they “want,” not that is necessarily true.
When you put someone in a vice and threaten their future, they will often give you whatever you want just to make their own problems go away.
To that point, Smith is now targeting Trump campaign aide Susie Wiles.
Wiles is reportedly tied to a PAC that is mentioned in the indictment against Trump regarding the classified documents.
The indictment stated that Trump showed an aide, who has now reportedly been identified as Wiles, a “classified map related to a military operation and told the representative that he should not be showing it to the representative and that the representative should not get too close.”
So, Smith will now pressure Wiles to come forward about that alleged meeting to see if she will give up the tapes on Trump.
The Trump campaign responded, “Jack Smith and the Special Counsel’s investigation is openly engaging in outright election interference and meddling by attacking one of the leaders of President Trump’s re-election campaign.
“This sham investigation by Joe Biden and his weaponized DOJ are clearly designed to inflict maximum political damage and to prevent President Trump … from reclaiming the White House.”
