Donald Trump took his first significant thump last week.
Trump did an interview talking about his beliefs on where the decision for abortion should lie.
In his opinion, this is a matter that should reside within the states.
Well, a major player among pro-life organizations, perhaps the biggest, slammed him, and now Trump is doing damage control.
But I Am Pro-Life
Many would agree this is a state issue, myself among them, but the Susan B. Anthony pro-life group says we need a 15-week abortion limit federally to protect the unborn.
The group also separated itself from supporting Trump if he would not agree to try to fight for such legislation if elected to office again.
Trump had a virtual address in Iowa this weekend, where he tried to limit the damage.
He stated that his administration had “monumental victories for faith, for family, for freedom, and for life.
“Together we achieved more for our values than any administration in the history of our country, and it’s not even close.
“I appointed over 300 judges who filled the federal bench with pro-constitutional warriors who interpret the laws as written.”
He also stated this his Supreme Court appointments “delivered a landmark victory for protecting innocent life.”
Make no mistake about… this is a very big deal for Trump.
If this group leaves him and supports DeSantis, if and when DeSantis announces, he will see a major jump in the polls.
Dismiss it if you want, but I am telling you that Trump needs to find a way to mend this fence in way that he avoids lumping himself in as an extremist on abortion, a position that has clearly hurt Republicans in elections in the past.
