Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) is not playing games.
He promised that he was going to go to work when the GOP took over the House, and he has been a bulldog ever since.
While he has several investigations underway, he found time to open another one directed at the FBI.
Radicals
A memo surfaced regarding activities of an FBI office that was targeting certain groups due to slang language that was being used.
It was their conclusion that some slang terms were actually code for radicals.
There was a document that came from the Virginia office that was called, “Interest of Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists in Radical-Traditionalist Catholic Ideology Almost Certainly Presents New Mitigation Opportunities.”
Jorden penned a letter to FBI Director Wray, stating, “The Committee on the Judiciary is conducting oversight of the [FBI’s] handling of domestic violent extremism investigations against Catholic Americans and its effect on protected First Amendment activity.
“Based on the limited information produced by the FBI to the Committee, we now know that the FBI relied on at least one undercover agent to produce its analysis, and that the FBI proposed that its agents engage in outreach to Catholic parishes to develop sources among the clergy and church leadership to inform on Americans practicing their faith.
“This shocking information reinforces our need for all responsive documents, and the Committee is issuing a subpoena to you to compel your full cooperation.”
Wray has been hit on this before in the Senate, but I can assure you Jordan is going to be far less pleasant than that was.
I look forward to seeing the FBI Director in the hot seat.
