Donald Trump’s move to endorse Ronna McDaniel for RNC Chair may have just backfired on him.
Reports are flying that there could be a new requirement to participate in the upcoming primary debates.
If the reports are accurate, it could be a big problem for Trump.
Loyalty Pledge
One of the big questions that is out there is if Trump will support another nominee and if other nominees will support Trump.
Several possible candidates have already stated that they would never support Trump, which means they would not be able to participate if the RNC decides to create a loyalty pledge for all participants.
Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan stated, “Trump won’t commit to supporting the Republican nominee, and I won’t commit to supporting him.
“As I have repeatedly said, I fully expect to support the Republican nominee — who I don’t believe will be Trump.”
These guys are nothing but noise, however.
The real contenders here are DeSantis and Trump, period.
I believe that DeSantis will make that pledge in a heartbeat, but I am not so sure that Trump will do the same.
And, if Trump takes a hardline stance, it could cost him the nomination because he is going to need these debates and that pledge to win back support he has lost over the last few years.
