What happened recently at a Mexico City airport check-in counter is considered a “world class” temper tantrum. The late arriving traveler will have a whole bunch of repercussions to face as she learns the conditions in Mexican jails are nowhere near the accommodations she was expecting at her destination. Whole tantrum on tape
As everyone around the world gets ready for the holiday travel season, here’s a taste of what to expect when you get to the airport. Along with taking your shoes off for an often excessively frisky frisk by TSA agents, you can look forward to an air-rage temper tantrum or two from fellow travelers.
One woman attempting to board an Emirates Airlines flight in Mexico City, bound for an undisclosed one of their 90 offered arrival airports, completely blew her privileged composure. Staff say she got there late.
When the Loony Toon traveler didn’t get her way, she exploded in a Tasmanian Devil like tantrum, attacking the check-in agent in the process. The video which caught global attention hit the Twitter waves on November 1.

It clearly shows “a traveler jumping over the check-in counter and attacking an Emirates employee who had been trying to process the passenger for her flight.” The agent wasn’t trying hard enough.
A statement put out by the airline notes the testy traveler “arrived late to check in for her flight at the Mexico City International Airport and attempted to use an expired passport — causing the Emirates agent to deny the traveler the ability to board.”
To prove she wasn’t a terrorist, the woman threw a tantrum and acted like a terrorist.
Resorting to violence
When simple intimidation and an angry raised voice didn’t appear to be producing results, the “woman got angry with the employee and climbed over the counter.” That’s when things started to get interesting. “She first began hitting the employee, then began to throw various items, including objects from a suitcase, computer equipment and more.”
The whole time, the airline notes, “as she continued throwing the tantrum, the woman stood on top of the actual check-in counter and began yelling to other airport travelers.” They’ll have to charge extra for providing entertainment.
Through the modern miracle of cell phone videography, the entire world can watch the woman screaming and throwing a major tantrum. Most of it already has.
“Meanwhile, an Emirates employee can also be seen and heard as she yells for security help.” An expired passport is an expired passport and no amount of hurled luggage will change that.
“The client was denied the trip, and she became rebellious and physically abusive with the ground staff — so it was necessary for airport security and police to intervene.”
Mexican police led her off to a nice little cell where she can throw as much of a tantrum as she likes. They enjoy things like that and place bets. Bets like how much louder she’ll scream when a cucaracha crawls up her dress.
