Karen Carter Peterson has been sentenced to 22 months in prison.

Peterson has been linked to yet another financial scandal.
She had been serving as the Louisiana Democrat Party chair when she suddenly resigned last April.
As it turns out, for years, she had been funneling money to outside sources who would then turn the money over to her.
She used the funds for personal expenses and gambling.
Among other charges, she had pleaded guilty to wire fraud.
In all, she swiped about $140,000.
Keep in mind, BLM paid about $100,000 in expenses for Peterson in backing her congressional campaign.
Peterson tried to blame this on a gambling addiction, stating, “Today marks an important step in my life-long recovery as I continue to address my gambling addiction.
“I sincerely apologize for the impact from my compulsive behavior resulting from this addiction.”
