A Philadelphia man that wrongly spent more than two decades in jail has been murdered.
This appears to have been a targeted hit.
The man was freed from jail last February after spending 25 years on death row.
Don’t Believe
Christopher Williams, 62, was let out of prison in February 2021.
Since then, he has continued to visit prisoners and work to free those that he believes were wrongly imprisoned.
Last Friday, he was shot dead while attending a funeral.
As he got out of his car, he took a shot right in the head at the Mount Peace Cemetery.
His co-defendant in the case hinted that this was possibly retribution by someone that did not believe he was innocent of the six murders had previously been convicted.
Theophalis “Bilal” Wilson, who himself was exonerated after serving 28 years in prison, stated, “Although we’re actually innocent, not everyone believes it.
“I spent 28 years in jail for knowing him.
“I have to be on guard.”
The case against Williams was largely built on a jailhouse snitch, which, over the years, failed to hold up to scrutiny.
