If elections are allowed to move forward without Democrats cheating, Republicans would win nationwide. Trump was cheated out of his second term. Like Trump, McAuliffe was an upset. Unexpected. Cheating is happening now for the NJ Senate President. We’re largely a conservative nation and we’re seeing the disaster of the Biden administration nationwide. So Republicans swept Virginia.
You don’t expect Democrats to concede anything
But they conceded Virginia. The governorship, lieutenant governor and attorney general are all Republicans. The icing on the cake is the new lieutenant governor, Winsome Sears, the first woman and minority in that state.
Democrat Delegate Martha Mugler admitted to defeat against A.C. Cordoza in the 91st House district which makes up the Hampton Roads region. The majority is thin but it’s there, Republicans now control 51 of 100 seats.
Democrats need their power
But you should never need power. When you need power it’s time to get out. House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn lamented about the majority in a statement after Mugler’s concession.
We spent this election cycle talking about the issues we championed and highlighting the tremendous progress we have made while in the majority. Unfortunately, the headwinds were too strong, and the maps drawn by the previous majority presented a challenge that was too great to overcome. …
While the results of the election were not in our favor, our work for the people of Virginia goes on. I will work to provide a smooth transition for the incoming speaker, and our Democratic caucus will work with the new majority in the House of Delegates and the governor’s administration to serve the best interests of all Virginians.
Democrats didn’t fare well
Former Montana Democrat Governor Steve Bullock noted, “Look at some of those rural counties in Virginia as a wake-up call. Folks don’t feel like we’re offering them anything, or hearing or listening to them.” No kidding.
Democrat strategist James Carville lit into his party, pointing out we’re furious with political correctness and removing the police. “What went wrong is just stupid wokeness. Don’t just look at Virginia and New Jersey. Look at Long Island, look at Buffalo, look at Minneapolis, even look at Seattle, Wash. I mean, this ‘defund the police’ lunacy, this take Abraham Lincoln’s name off of schools. I mean that — people see that. It’s just really — has a suppressive effect all across the country on Democrats. Some of these people need to go to a ‘woke’ detox center or something. They’re expressing a language that people just don’t use, and there’s backlash and a frustration at that.” If the Democrats want a federalized police force, they need another plan.
