If you only pay attention to the mainstream media narrative you might be under the impression that anti-Asian hate crimes are being exclusively committed by evil white men. In fact, the vast majority of these crimes are committed by BLM supporting black men. The recent arrest of a BLM activist for multiple attempted assaults directed at Asian-Americans once again shatters the popular media narrative surrounding the alleged hate crime spree against Asians.

BLM drives attacks on Asians

Even as Congress almost unanimously approves a bill directed against “anti-Asian hate crimes,” another liberal crusade is getting dangerously close to interrupting the moment with reality.

Seattle BLM activist Christopher Hamner, who is black, has been charged with committing a hate crime for two separate incidents in which he harassed and threatened to attack Asian-Americans.

Politicians and the media are determined to pin all hatred against Asians on President Trump and white Americans. In fact, the vast majority of such cases have involved black men with ties to the BLM movement.

Hamner has posted extensively on social media about his concern for fighting against hate crimes and racism. Even as he harassed Asians in Seattle Hamner was posting about his confidence that President Biden would bring about a sharp decline in hate crimes in America.

In one incident Hamner approached a mother and her two young children while shouting expletives and making threatening gestures. Hamner, who was otherwise unprovoked, was apparently only angered by the race of the victim.

In both cases the victims were able to escape before Hamner had an opportunity to physically attack them, although in the second case he had time to throw an object at the car of the two women he was approaching.

Leftist causes clash

Hamner has pleaded not guilty, with his lawyer attempting first to excuse him on the grounds of mental illness and next by claiming that he would be attacked for his race in prison. Both arguments were dismissed by the judge.

Racially motivated attacks on Asians in America are, in actuality, extremely rare. If there is a recent surge in their numbers, however, it is being driven overwhelmingly by black men.

Attacks by black men on both Asian and white victims have increasingly been excused and enabled by the establishment of the BLM cult in all walks of American life.

The problem for the media and the government thus becomes how to possibly reconcile their two favored causes, which seem to be clashing with an increasing frequency.

The strategy for smoothing over conflicts within the liberal narrative seems generally to be to imply that white America is always to blame for whatever injustice is the cause of the moment.

When messy realities like Christopher Hamner continue to get in the way, however, collisions between narratives may soon force Democrats to choose who their favorite minority really is.
