Fox News must have stepped in something pretty good this week because the network just had its second big legal win of the week.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Hunter Biden had decided to drop his defamation case against the network.
Now, a judge has tossed a defamation case against Fox News by a Biden official.
No Way Nina
Nina Jankowicz, the former head of the now-defunct Department of Homeland Security (DHS) disinformation board, just got the bad news.
Jankowicz was suing Fox News, claiming that reports on the network resulted in various threats against her.
Judge Connolly, the presiding judge in the case, not only dismissed the case, but also torched Jankowicz in the process.
He stated, “The lawsuit from Nina Jankowicz alleged that Fox had defamed her on numerous occasions, leading to waves of online attacks and threats of violence after the formation of the Disinformation Governance Board, where she served as a director.
“In May of 2022, just weeks after its launch, the Department of Homeland Security paused the board’s work and accepted Jankowicz’s resignation.
“The board was officially dissolved and its charter rescinded in August of that same year.”
The ruling went on to say that 36 of the 37 statements outlined by Jankowicz in her suit were actually about the board, not her.
The final statement in question, also made reference to the board, even though her image was shown in the report.
So, sorry, Nina, but you are going to be able to shake down Fox News this time.
As I noted above, this has to give the big shots at Fox News a sign of relief after they were crushed in the lawsuit brought about by Tucker Carlson’s comments and the 2020 election.
I am not sure Fox could withstand another judgment like that, but I would bet dollars to donuts these cases were brought solely because the court had decided in favor of the plaintiff in those other two suits.
