One of the things that I agree with is the notion that you get what you pay for. I’m also of the belief that if you advertise something then you better do your best to come as close as you possibly can to delivering on the customer’s expectations.
I mean, I know that I am never going to go into a fast food restaurant and pay for a hamburger that looks exactly like the one in the ad. However, I know that they are going to make sure that it tastes as good as humanly possible.
We’ve all been disappointed when it comes to paying money to see shows or going places in general.
I’ve never seen something as absolutely horrible as what I am about to tell you about. Recently there was an event hosted called “Willy’s Chocolate Experience” that was advertised as an “experience immersed in the Wonkaverse”.
You’d think that this would be something where you would be crawling with Oompa Loompas, candy all over the place, and decorations that would rival the sets of the movies themselves.
Well, you would think that from the advertising material. The ads made it look like it was going to be better than the movie sets.
Well, not sure what the company that organized this travesty was going to be able to deliver, AI-generated images were used to create the ad material.
When parents got there after paying over forty dollars a head, where they were told they would be experiencing “a universe where confectionary dreams are brought to life”, they got something that looked more like it was the set of a bad high school play where all the sets were dug out of the garbage.
apparently this was sold as a live Willy Wonka Experience but they used all AI images on the website to sell tickets and then people showed up and saw this and it got so bad people called the cops lmao pic.twitter.com/tfkyg0G0WG

On the left, you can see what people were promised and what people actually got. People paid money for this. Speaking of paying money for things and being disappointed, remember the Oompa Loompas the children were promised?
The Oompa Loompa from the knock off Wonka land experience looks like she’s running a literal meth lab and is seriously questioning the life choices up until this point. If you scripted this, I would say it was too on the nose pic.twitter.com/WwkGO8Hjck

Yes, here is the Oompa. Now, I haven’t seen the movies in quite some time but I do not exactly recall the Wonka Factory looking like it was a meth lab in a trailer park. I mean, the poor person in the photo here isn’t even orange.
That being said, I don’t fault any of the workers that were at this thing, I take issue with the organizers who decided to put this travesty on. The actors at the event were merely playing a role.
