This no-nonsense Michigan judge was not about to deal with the disrespect coming from this woman in his courtroom. While the judge was just about to hand down her sentencing, this woman felt it was a good idea to laugh. And that’s exactly when the judge wiped the grin right off the woman’s face.
It is truly shocking to realize how much disrespect exists in the world today. We see people, especially adults, acting inappropriately and passing down this same mindset to their children. Thankfully, we have inspiring people like Judge Qiana Lillard who are willing to show that respect is essential.
Recently, she had an opportunity to demonstrate this when Amanda Kosal’s mother and her boyfriend showed a lack of reverence in her courtroom while the victim’s sister gave a statement.
Amanda Kosal was 25 years old when she killed Jerome Zirker while driving drunk. While awaiting sentencing, Judge Qiana Lillard became frustrated with Donna Kosal and her unidentified boyfriend after noticing them smirking during the victim’s sister’s statement.
This display of disrespect prompted the judge to call them “clowns” and throw them out of the courtroom. She went as far as to threaten Donna with jailtime if she didn’t leave right away. After some back-and-forth between Donna and Judge Lillard, it was determined that Donna would spend 93 days in jail for criminal contempt charges.
This whole unfortunate situation began when Amanda drove across the center line of a road and slammed into an SUV head-on which resulted in death for 31 year old Jerome Zirker and severe injuries for his fiancée Brittany Johnson who was only being picked up from a 12 hour shift at work at a group home when it happened.
Fortunately Johnson’s 5 children were not affected due to them being at their grandmother’s house at the time of impact but unfortunately Johnson now has single motherhood thrust upon her because of this incident.
Amanda eventually plead guilty to killing Zirker resulting in her getting 3-15 years sentence in prison which did not sit well with Jerome Zirkers mother Rathel Fizer who asked that instead of going behind bars Amanda should help support her grandchildren since they no longer have a father due to this tragedy taking him away from them so suddenly.
