In this one move, Georgia Republicans have betrayed their party. After Sen. Colton Moore put forth efforts to initiate a special legislative session to review the actions of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in her prosecution of former President Donald Trump, Georgia Senate Republicans caucus voted to remove him from office.
We stand with our colleague and believe that he should be reinstated immediately.
Sen. Moore wrote a letter to Governor Brian Kemp on August 17th asking for support from three-fifths of the state House and Senate members in order to call a special session and investigate Willis’ prosecution of Trump.
He felt that it was necessary to defund Willis’ office from Georgia state tax dollars as she was “acting like a fascist” according to an interview with WXIA-TV. Despite this, Governor Kemp responded that he would not be calling a special session but shared concerns about what seemed like politically motivated charges against Trump.
As a Georgia State Senator, I am officially calling for an emergency session to review the actions of Fani Willis.
America is under attack. I’m not going to sit back and watch as radical left prosecutors politically TARGET political opponents. pic.twitter.com/gpzg2l5uIU

A Rasmussen Reports poll conducted from September 8th-11th among 1,061 likely Georgia voters found that 62% of Republicans felt very likely that Trump was being unfairly prosecuted by Willis while 20% thought it was somewhat likely–a combined 82%.
Former President Trump supported Moore’s effort publicly which is unsurprising considering what happened on election night at State Farm Arena where party observers and media were told counting had stopped only for it to resume for nearly two more hours soon thereafter.
The independent report contracted by the Georgia State Election Board identified many issues surrounding chain of custody and protocol for securing ballots at State Farm Arena which caused doubt within the integrity of the 2020 general election in Georgia.
These events have put into question whether or not fairness can actually be achieved when looking at political issues–especially when it comes down to those who hold power making decisions on their own agenda rather than what is morally justifiable or fair.
We cannot tolerate unjust removal such as this one made by our colleagues in regard towards Sen. Colton Moore and strongly urge him being reinstated immediately after all he has done for us politically speaking right here in our own backyard.
