The Biden Administration has been determined to dig up dirt on Donald Trump and toss any charges on him possible to see if they stick.

And the investigation by Special Counsel Jack Smith into supposed election interference is just one example of their desperate attempts.

However, Smith’s latest charges against Trump may be a bridge too far – claiming that he improperly raised political funds to investigate voting machines in multiple states won by Joe Biden.

Invoices obtained by CNN show that Smith is investigating former Trump attorney Sydney Powell’s non-profit, Defending the Republic, which was established to inspect voting machines in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Arizona – all states won by Biden.

It appears that Powell will be a target of Smith’s investigation as well; witnesses have already been asked about how her non-profit raised money for legal challenges initiated by President Trump’s team post-election.

Post-election legal challenges are certainly not new; they are commonplace and legal defense funds have long been a mainstay of presidential campaigns.

But what we are witnessing here from the Biden Justice Department goes beyond innocent attempts to challenge election results as it seeks to prove these actions stepped outside protected free speech and crossed into illegal territory – notably charging both President Trump and Powell for conspiring to rig voting machines in Georgia.

Trump famously petitioned Mike Pence (his Vice President) to delay certification of electors during his time in office, but Pence declined his request.

This very same case has now taken a dramatic turn with Smith now citing Civil War era laws claiming that the former president used his position to incite an insurrection at Capitol Hill on January 6th 2021 when supporters breached its walls.

What stands out here is the aggressive nature of these charges being brought forward against Donald Trump specifically.

While post-election legal challenges are common practice for any presidential campaign, there seems to be something more sinister at play when it comes down to targeting those closest to him.
