The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is ramping up its cyber warfare tactics against the United States and its allies with alarming frequency.

It is becoming more and more apparent that Chinese computer hackers have infiltrated American military and civil critical infrastructure in ways that could severely impede a US response to any kind of Chinese aggression, as these attacks are intended to do significant damage before hostilities even begin.

This would certainly align with the ancient military strategy famously outlined by Sun Tzu’s “Art of War”—to win the war without firing a single shot.

From a modern standpoint, this involves launching preemptive cyber strikes not only against enemy forces but also on social and economic foundations such as communication systems, transport networks, energy sources, water supplies, and healthcare services.

The goal is to cause so much chaos among opponents that they will be unable or unwilling to fight back when it comes down to it.

For this strategy to work, the CCP must first gain access to information about what they plan to target followed by devising cyberattacks that can effectively bypass safety measures in order to create sudden disaster with no possibility for rectifying or reversing it.

The United States has been aware of this threat since February of 2021 when Microsoft detected malicious software embedded within power grids and communications systems used by the armed forces.

A month later, there were reports that China had hacked into both the Department of State as well as Commerce Department computers along with those belonging several Western European entities.

In 2022 at its Summit meeting NATO declared China was engaged in hybrid warfare activities directed at allied countries which posed an enormous risk to domestic security.

Unfortunately for their citizens’ security, UK politicians have yet failed take proper action despite warnings from intelligence agencies about Beijing’s intentions for years now.
