Dr. Jordan Peterson is having to confront a Canadian regulator in court to avoid needing “remedial” social media training or having his license revoked. The Ontario College of Psychologists thought his social media posts “may have lacked professionalism”. The Daily Wire host has blasted the regulator for trying to suppress free speech but Peterson got his day in court. He’s been pursued since 2017.
Canadian officials don’t like criticism
The regulator has been going after him since 2017 once his follower levels on social media got up to 15 million. He was talking to too many people who agreed with him.
Peterson explained, “I was never investigated for anything for the 20 years I practiced prior to my emergence on the public scene.” His legal team saw the judges in a packed Toronto court where they asked to have the order overturned.

Canadian free speech
His legal team argued speech like this is common now, “Tweeting on topics of socio-political interest is, in this day and age, a core aspect of free expression. The decision must therefore be set aside.” Peterson did not attend this hearing.
Some of the offending things Peterson retweeted were the Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre’s criticizing Trudeau and not being happy about the Ottawa police taking custody of the children of the trucker convoy protesters.
Canadian government accepting things
Some things the Canadian government might do could encourage the collapse of society. Peterson spoke on Joe Rogan’s podcast about accepting radical gender theory being a sign of “civilizations collapsing”. He also called climate change models unreliable.
He also criticized the Canadian law that makes you a criminal if you don’t use correct pronouns for trans-identifying people. Peterson’s legal team said the regulator took his comments out of context. “Some were sarcastic jokes; others were made in salty exchanges; and others needed to be read together with Dr. Peterson’s fuller explanations of them. Many of the comments were made on Twitter, which is an environment that does not allow for nuanced exposition.”
